~ three stars for the special effects and then another one for the film itself. a lot of people hated this movie for the number of sci-fi tropes in this, most notably the "human hates robots but then learns to understand and care for special robot", but it's one of my favorite ones in the genre lol no words for the special effects, it's just THAT amazing. i love science fiction but sometimes the "fiction" part looks quite out of place, the robots/tech looking completely different from the real actors. not here tho', they just blend in such an amazing way, it's stunning

~ hmmm it could have been worse, i guess?? the third film was such a good end for ripley's character. her dying in sacrifice, in my opinion, was destined to be. it was inevitable, and at first i though this kinda of ruined it. however, it's clear that this ripley is a completely different ripley from the trilogy, so in a way this is a new character, which is why i think this film wasn't THAT bad. but again, i did like the alien³, which is quite a hated movie lol
